Due to my superior intellect I only watch the most sophisticated adult anime.

Dunno who is "You", but i haven't even watched anime in last say, 2-3 years. Yawn.

And yes, there is. Just like there is difference between kid targeted, teen targeted etc .. books. You might as well suggest that anyone reading book is at intellectual level of average Harry Potter or whatever fan.

Indeed there is. There's a huge gap between pokemons and dragonball and stuff like Ghost in the Shell, Serial Experiment Lain or Paranoia Agent (to name only the few I know well). Anime is a fantastic source of creativity, I can't help to watch the most original animes and I find them much more creative than USA tv shows (e.g. Fringe, House, Heroes, which are good shows). Lately I'm hooked to the latest Masamune Shirow (you have to read the original GitS manga, with the numerous anotations from real scientific papers), Real Drive, which explores the links between science, art, psyche and emotions. There's a fascinating parallel between the next-gen Internet (the "metal") and the aquatic environment, where "surfing" is akin to "diving" through various layers, and it also explores how and why technology helps or hinders human progress.

Overrated show. The first half showed promise. I dropped the disc containing the last 2 episodes into the microwave. Watching the electric arcs and sparks and listening to that buzz and hum from the discharge was more entertaining.

The first half was more along the lines of "OMG! Giant robots piloted by kids!".

The second half was more along the lines of "OMG! WTF is going on!? Did that 30 meter tall walking death machine just EAT another creature!?" Man first time I saw that ep it disturbed me.

@Fenix-that unfortunately is a view shared by many, particularly here in America where the vast majority of animation is geared towards the younger crowd, and those that are more "adult" are just lame (although I was very impressed with Boondocks-not my kind of show but very well done).

The thing I liked about Anime was the story telling-you could get very meaningful story lines and have it wrapped up in a season. Whereas in my part of the world they'll take a meaningful story, and drag it out until the ratings go down and either a) wrap it up quickly leaving you disappointed or b) cancel it outright.

I stopped watching it because it was to expensive and I'm not the kind of person to go out and download crap-I rather own it then just bootleg.

And for those that think Anime is for kids-go out and rent Akira. That'll change your mind.

Try showing kids who watch pokemon, Elfen Lied, then you'll see the differences
